⎮ Required Documents for Hong Kong Immigration Procedures and quarantine period by country

 

 

 

▪︎  When entering Hong Kong from <China, Macau>

1) If you have stayed in China or Macau for more than 21days, you can enter Hong Kong without a valid visa.

2) Those who have not been vaccinated must be quarantined at home or hotel for 14days, and must have a reservation certificate from hotel other than a government-designated hotel when quarantined at a hotel.

3)Those who have been vaccinated for more than 14 days after completing vaccination recognized by Hong Kong must have a vaccination certificate, the quarantine period is reduced to 7 days, and seld-monitoring for 7 days after the quarantine is lifted.

▪︎  When entering Hong Kong from <Taiwan>

1) If you stayed in Taiwan for more than 21 days, you can enter Hong Kong without a valid visa.

2) If you are entering Taiwan from May 17, 2021, you must have a negative result of a nuleic acid test for COVID-1 that was tested within 72 hours of boarding.

   -Those who have not been vaccivated by the Hong Kong government must have a 21 days Hong Kong goverment-designated hotel reservation confirmation and be quarantined at the designaged hotel for 21 days.

   -If 14 days have passed since the completion of the vaccination recognized by the Hong Kong government, the quarantine period is reduced to 14 days and self-monitoring must be conducted for 7 days after the quarantine is lifted.

▪︎  When entering Hong Kong from <Australia, New Zealand>

1) If you have stayed in Australia or New Zealand for more than 14 days, you can enter Hong Kong without valid visa.

2) Those who have not been vaccinated must have a 14 days reservation confirmation at a hotel designated by the Hong Kong government before boarding a flight to Hong Kong and must be quarantined for 14 days.

3) Those who have vaccinated for more than 14 days after receiving a vaccine recognized by HK must have a certificate of vaccination and a 7 days reservation at a hotel designated by the Hong Kong government before boarding a flight to HK and must be quarantined for 7 days. Self-monitoring is required for 7 days after release from quarantine.

 

 

▪︎  When entering Hong Kong from <Other Countries>

1) Only holders of valid visas (working visa, family visa, working holiday visa, etc.) / HK Permanent Resident Card can enter HK. Exceptionally, if 'spoused and minor children (under the age of 18) of valid visa or HK permanent residence holder intend to enter HK for a family reunion, they may enter HK without a valid visa.

2) Those who are entering from a country with a high risk of infection must have a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result obtained by collecting a sample within 72 hours of boarding.

3) Due to the spread of the COVID-19 mutant virus, entry into HK is prohibited for all persons, including HK residents, who have stayed in South Africa, India, Pakistan, Philippines, or Nepal for more than 2 hours within 21 days days prior to entry.

⎮ Process and procedure from arrival at Hong Kong airport to quarantine hotel

 

 

 

1) Upon arrival, follow the guidance of the guides and proceed to the COVID-19 test site at the airport.

2) After the inspection, wait at the waiting area (about 2 hours) and if negative is confirmed, go through immigration and retrieve your luggage.

 - You can request water, snacks and sandwiches while you wait in the waiting area.

3) Use a government-designated vehicle (no public transportation) and go to the reserved hotel.

 

 

* Upon arrival, at HK Airport, the airport staff will put a wristband on your wrist before procceding to the waiting area. It cannot be removed or cut from the wrist during quarantine period.

⎮ Tips : Things to prepare before entering Hong Kong

 

1) Generate QR code

 

When you arrive at HK airport, the first thing you need to show is the QR code. I created this and captured in advance at the departure airport.

 

Most people generate this after arriving in Hong Kong. Hong Kong airport staff will guide you through the process in detail. In fact, even if you create it in advance and finish the check-in process early, anyway you will have to wait 2 hours for test result with the passengers on the same flight.

 

You will need to enter your seat number to generate a QR code. That's why you can create it after check-in at the departure airport. If you have time left after check-in or if you have a lot of luggage so want to create one before departure and sit down early after arriving at HK, please go to the link below and generate a QR code 24 hours in advance.

2) Install 'Stay Home Safe' app

 

The 'Stay Home Safe' application is simply searched for in the App Store and installed. The staff will keep asking you to show it during the immigration process. And when you activate it after you arrive at the quarantine place, it is linked with the wristband to notify your location.

 

3) Hong Kong SIM card (Callable)

 

During the arrival process in HK, airport staff will call your HK phone number. At this time, a phone call connection should be established.
